Dear Team Member,
I hope this message finds you all healthy and well. We would like to start his week’s blog by asking YOU - our dear team member for assistance!
DIRTY DOZEN EXPEDITIONS NEEDS A SLOGAN
The idea behind The Dirty Dozen was when the Captain of the Truk Master and Aron were sharing a few cold beers after a successful year in Truk Lagoon - watching the WW2 classic “The Dirty Dozen” and dreaming about what kind of a trip they would conduct if they had the boat for 10 days and could do a dream itinerary exploring the lagoon.
The rest is history - and since then there have been hundreds of jokes for a cheeky slogan - but we have never got one to stick, and now we feel the time is right.
So, put on your thinking cap and come up with a slogan that just might give you the bragging rights of coming up with DD’s new slogan, and save you up to 1000USD on your next booking. 💰
To be in it to win it:
☝️ Follow @thedirtydozenexpeditions on Instagram or Facebook
☝️ Comment on this photo in the feeds with your slogan idea
☝️ The winner will be announced on February 12 2021 at 1800 GMT +2 in our weekly newsletter - subscribe if you have not already HERE.
#Teamdd Member Jill heinerth presents at THE Explorers Club
Celebrated cave diver and #teamdd member Jill Heinerth conducted a fascinating #ECLectureSeries presenting "Underwater Ice Age Discoveries Beneath the Yucatan: Exploring La Mina" this week.
Researchers studying the subterranean site La Mina will share their findings on the region’s prehistory, the exploration the discovery and documentation of the site, and the use of the mineral pigment ocher in Pleistocene-Holocene communities.
Join Jill for a fascinating evening learning about underwater caves and prehistoric mining activity of ocher deposits in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Click on the video above to watch.
Have you ever thought about diving with Jill Heinerth? She is joining us again in Truk Lagoon in 2022. Email us for more information.
Aron Joins mentorship program
Aron also was active with the Explorers Club this week as he learned that he has been chosen to take on a mentee in the brand new EC Mentorship Program.
A brilliant idea from the club, especially in these times apart where the committee carefully handpicks a mentor and mentee to connect and share triumphs and failures, knowledge and experience, and any tips that should help along this lifelong rollercoaster that is exploration.
Aron’s mentee is an anthropologist interested in electronic engineering and underwater archaeology that is mounting an expedition to dive a virgin shipwreck in the next year.
The Connection Committee of The Explorers Club will also be launching several additional programs in the coming years designed to create inclusive opportunities for learning, partnership, and camaraderie between members of the Explorers Club.
Have you thought about joining the club? PM Aron about membership - he will gladly coach you with your application.
That is us for this week, we look forward to some great adventures with you in the years to come and as always, don’t forget, if you are feeling lonely, then we are here to chat Dirty.
Love,
Aron Arngrímsson and the DDE Team
